The fundraising race for Apopka mayor is beginning to take shape, with Orange County Commissioner Christine Moore holding a narrow lead in total fundraising, Apopka Mayor Bryan Nelson posting the strongest fourth quarter, and Apopka City Commissioner Nick Nesta trailing the field as he builds his campaign, according to newly filed campaign finance reports.
The fourth-quarter reports, filed with the City of Apopka, cover campaign activity from October 1 through December 31, 2025.
Moore reported $63,266 in total monetary contributions to date, the highest cumulative total among the candidates. Her campaign raised $13,175 in cash contributions during the quarter and also disclosed a $5,000 loan. Moore reported $16,116.91 in expenditures during the reporting period and $27,383.19 in total expenditures to date.
Moore’s fundraising included 21 contributions from 13 individuals and eight businesses, five of whom are from Apopka. The donations ranged from $25 to $1,000, with 12 donors contributing the maximum of $1,000.
Nelson reported the strongest fundraising quarter, bringing in $20,700 in monetary contributions and $1,002.49 in in-kind support. His campaign spent $9,248.36 during the quarter. Nelson’s total monetary contributions now stand at $50,924.98, narrowing the gap with Moore’s overall fundraising total. Nelson has reported $15,426.16 in total expenditures to date.
Nelson's fundraising included 41 contributions from 29 individuals and nine businesses, six of whom are from Apopka. The donations ranged from $100-$1,000, with 10 donors contributing the maximum of $1,000.
Traffic and Mobility Consultants, an Orlando-based consulting firm, donated $1,000 to both Moore and Nelson.
Nesta reported $6,125 in monetary contributions during the quarter, supplemented by $3,254.20 in in-kind contributions. His filing indicates the total includes a personal contribution to his own campaign. Nesta reported $8,804.35 in fourth-quarter expenditures and $9,379.20 in total monetary contributions to date.
Nesta's fundraising included three contributions from three individuals, no businesses, all three from Apopka. The donations ranged from $25-$500.
