According to Duke Energy, enrolled customers have collectively received $1.5 million in bill credits since the program launched in 2022. For eligible customers in Apopka and elsewhere in the utility’s Florida service area, the monthly credit amounts to $90 over a full year of qualifying participation.
The program requires a Level 2 charger. Qualifying charging hours are:
- Monday through Friday: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.
- Weekends and holidays: Anytime.
Those windows give participating drivers options to charge during the day or overnight on weekdays, with greater flexibility on weekends and holidays. The incentive encourages customers to shift charging away from periods of higher electricity demand.
“We’re always looking for ways to help our customers save money,” said Melissa Seixas, Duke Energy Florida state president. “For EV drivers, participating in the Off-Peak Charging Credit program is a simple, almost effortless way to lower their monthly bills, so we encourage all eligible customers to sign up and start taking advantage of it today.”
Duke Energy says the program is open to its Florida residential customers who meet eligibility requirements, and up to two electric vehicles can be enrolled per account. Customers can review program details and apply at duke-energy.com/OffPeak.
The utility supplies electricity to approximately 2 million residential, commercial, and industrial customers across a 13,000-square-mile service area in Florida. The charging credit is among the programs it offers to help customers manage the cost of owning an electric vehicle.
