Tuesday: Planning Commission considers daycare, rezoning

The Apopka Planning Commission meets Tuesday, October 13, at 5:30 pm in the City Hall Commission Chambers, 120 E. Main St. Two public hearings are scheduled, involving a proposed child care facility on Chandler Road and a rezoning request for properties on Sir Arthur Court.

The first hearing concerns a special exception to allow a daycare center in the Office zoning district at 4410 and 4420 Chandler Road. The approximately 5.12-acre property is currently used for residential purposes, according to the agenda. Richard Chandler is the owner, and Camila Neira is the applicant.

The second hearing concerns Ordinance 3176, a proposed zoning change involving 543, 544, and 552 Sir Arthur Court. The agenda identifies approximately 6.70 acres and a maximum density of five dwelling units per acre. Michael and Sharon Cooper own the properties, and Michael Cooper is the applicant.

The density figure is a maximum identified in the agenda; it does not establish a proposed home count. The agenda also does not specify the existing and requested zoning classifications, making those details important to watch during the presentation.

Residents wishing to speak on a public hearing item should submit a white Intent to Speak form to the clerk before the meeting. Green forms are used for general public comment. The City of Apopka will livestream the meeting on its YouTube channel.

A second first-submission construction site plan concerns renovations or redevelopment at 4791 Apopka Logistics Parkway. Exeter Wesley Land LLC owns the property, and Kimley-Horn and Associates, represented by Brooks Stickler, is the applicant.

The special-event application is for Trader Maes Christmas Festival at 2001 N. Rock Springs Road. The proposed festival dates are Nov. 7–8, from 9 am to 5 pm each day. This week’s agenda item is the application review; the festival itself is scheduled for next month.
