According to the National Hurricane Center, as of 5:00 PM EDT the center of Tropical Storm Fiona was 1,145 miles west of the Cabo Verde Islands.
Fiona is moving toward the northwest near 10 mph and is expected to continue northwest and west-northwest during the next couple of days.
Maximum sustained winds are near 45 mph with higher gusts. Some slight strengthening is possible during the next day or so, followed by gradual weakening over the weekend.
Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 35 miles from the center.
