The Apopka Voice 10th Anniversary

The Apopka Voice remains committed to telling the deeper story of Apopka

Delivering news the commuity needs to hear

Posted

As we continue our 10-year-anniversary celebration, The Apopka Voice is reflecting on our journey, and looking ahead to our continued mission: telling the story of Apopka in a comprehensive way.

"For the past 10 years, The Apopka Voice has had our finger on the pulse of what makes this city tick, and interviews with its leaders are a primary part of that," said Managing Editor Reggie Connell. "We are the only local online news site pursuing these important people and asking them the hard questions that residents and voters want to know the answers to."

While through the years we have spotlighted local businesses, nonprofits and events, hot topics and issues of interest, and will continue to do so, it is our deeper interviews with city, county and state leadership that we believe is absolutely vital for the full story to be told.  The vision, decisions, and actions of those in leadership help build up, further, and/or tear down the very structures that make Apopka a thriving city. What a leader does or doesn't do can have significant effects on either supporting or destablizing the present and future opportunities of Apopka. It is for this reason that we have, and will always pursue those leading the way, to make sure the way is known, transparent, and available for all residents' input.

A few examples of some of our deeper dives over the years:

As we look ahead at continuing this committment to our readers to tell that comprehensive story of Apopka, here are a few spotlights we will be publishing in the next weeks and months:

  • A spotlight on how national and state trends in immigration and migrant farmworkers are affecting our local Apopka farms and communities;
  • Candidates in the upcoming Apopka mayoral race;
  • Upcoming interview with former Apopka City Administrator Jacob Smith; looking back and looking forward.

If there are questions you want asked, or interviews you would like covered, please be sure to share your ideas either in the comments below this article, or in response to our Question of the Month on our social media pages (Facebook, Instagram, X and Bluesky) and in our Newsletter.  And of course, you can always email us directly at info@theapopkavoice.com, or give us a call directly: 407.415.6218. We welcome  your feedback any time.

Conducting these deeper interviews are one of the ways in which we show our commitment to you, seeking to deepen the conversation with leaders, inform and educate readers on the city's directions and issues, and helping ensure that the voices of Apopka’s residents are heard, understood, and respected.

As we mark a decade of reporting the news that engages and makes a difference in the commuity, The Apopka Voice remains dedicated to being a trusted source for insight, accountability, and inspiration. Our mission continues with clarity and purpose: to shine a light on the people, issues, and stories that shape Apopka.

Thank you for being part of this journey with us.

    Your list of "Deeper Dives" doesn't have the Mayor on it. Is this because he did not want to be there or

    The Apopka Voice chose to not ask him? After reading The Apopka Voice's article about the Mayor and

    former Apopka Administrator Jacob Smith it seems The Apopka Voice is not on the Mayors side in this city.

    This is not the first issue that it appears The Apopka Voice has a problem with the Mayor. We ALL have our

    opinions, in favor and sometime not in favor of how government is run. No one is perfect.
