Reminder: Once-a-week watering beginning soon

Residents should check their assigned day before adjusting irrigation schedules

Posted

In Summary:

A reminder advises residents that once-a-week watering begins Nov. 1. Before changing irrigation settings, residents should confirm their assigned watering day and any applicable exceptions. Checking automatic timers can help households follow the schedule.

*****

Saving water starts with you! When clocks change by one hour on November 1 to Eastern Standard Time, Orange County residents should also remember to change their irrigation timers to one day per week.

Related: September rain falls short as dry conditions persist across the district.

This schedule will remain in effect until Daylight Saving Time returns March 14, 2027. The time change aligns with mandatory lawn and landscape irrigation restrictions that set watering days based on odd- or even-numbered addresses.

Additional restrictions include:

  • Water only if necessary and not between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
  • Water for no more than one hour per zone.
  • Restrictions apply to private wells and pumps, ground or surface water and water from public and private utilities.
  • Some exceptions apply.

Repeat violators will be subject to a fine per violation.
