The Apopka City Council, at its April 19th meeting, voted 5-0 to appoint Eric Mock to the Apopka Planning Commission. Mock replaces Linda Laurendeau on the commission, and begins a three-year-term.

"I’m looking forward to serving Apopka on the Planning Commission," said Mock. "Apopka is a growing community. The Planning Commission provides advisory input to the City Commission, and as a member, I plan on doing my best for Apopka, the City Commission, and the residents of Apopka."

Eric Mock was appointed to the Apopka Planning Commission at the City Council's April 19th meeting.

According to the agenda packet for the meeting, the City of Apopka’s Planning Commission is established as a citizen board to review and recommend to the City Council approval or denial of development plans, amendments to the zoning map, amendments to the Land Development Code, proposed subdivision plats, proposed site plans, and future land use map amendments.

In accordance with Florida Statutes, the Planning Commission serves as the City’s “Local Planning Agency” when reviewing and recommending to the City Council any future land use amendments to the Comprehensive Plan and Future Land Use Map.

There are seven members that are appointed by the Mayor and approved by the City Council. Members are appointed to three-year terms and must reside within the city limits. The Planning Commission normally meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 5:30 P.M. Additional meetings are scheduled depending on the subject or volume of applications.

Mock is currently a real estate agent at You Have Realty. Previously, he was an executive director of nursing homes and assisted living facilities in Florida for 31 years. He managed and oversaw the operation of facilities with budgets between $7-20 million and staff of over 380 employees. He was also elected to be the Region 2 Vice President for the Florida Healthcare Association and represented approximately 40 nursing homes in the Central Florida area.

In 2022, he ran for Seat #4 on the Apopka City Commission against Commissioner Nick Nesta.
