The DRC will meet Wednesday, July 29, at 9 am in the Apopka City Hall Commission Chambers. The committee’s agenda includes six construction site plans and two special-event applications.

The largest new commercial proposal on the agenda is the Wyld Oaks C Store, planned along West Kelly Park Road between Effie Drive and State Road 429.

According to the agenda, the project calls for 6,300 square feet of multi-tenant retail and restaurant space, along with a fueling station. M&R United Inc. is listed as the property owner, with Kimley-Horn and Associates serving as the applicant.

The proposal is appearing before the committee as a first construction site plan submittal.

The DRC will also conduct its initial review of The Villas at Wekiva, a proposed 16-unit multifamily residential development at 734 Piedmont Wekiwa Road.

Tatiana Gonzalez is listed as the owner, while AIP Design is the applicant. The project is the only subdivision plan listed on Wednesday’s agenda.

New courts proposed at Northwest Recreation Complex

The City of Apopka will bring back its plans for new tennis and pickleball courts at the Northwest Recreation Complex, located at 2500 Bush Drive.

The construction site plan is returning for a second review. Newkirk Engineering Inc. is representing the city on the application.

The agenda does not specify how many courts would be constructed or provide a projected construction cost or completion date.

Another recreational project involves an amenity area within the Springhaven subdivision near West Kelly Park Road, Chandler Road and Jason Dwelley Parkway.

The Springhaven Amenity construction site plan is appearing for its first review. Jen Florida 61 LLC is listed as the owner, and 1828 Engineering LLC is the applicant.

AutoZone plan returns for third review

A proposed AutoZone at 1788 Rock Springs Road will return to the DRC for a third construction site plan review.

The project calls for construction of a 6,815-square-foot retail building. Sabal Hospitality Group LLC is listed as the property owner, with CPH serving as the applicant.

The committee will also review a proposed revision involving Building H at the Wekiva Shopping Center, located at 2121 East Semoran Boulevard.

The application concerns an 8,288-square-foot building and is listed as a first-submittal revision to the center’s construction site plan. Woolbright Wekiva LLC owns the property, and Sun-Tech Engineering Inc. is representing the project.

Special events scheduled for Kit Land Nelson Park

Two community events planned at Kit Land Nelson Park are also scheduled for review.

The Jalen Carter Foundation is seeking approval for a back-to-school backpack giveaway scheduled for Wednesday, August 5, from 3–6 pm at the park, located at 10 N. Forest Ave.

The Rotary Club Foundation Inc. is proposing a Fall Family Festival and carnival at Kit Land Nelson Park and Edwards Field from Nov. 5-8.

The DRC reviews development applications for compliance with the city’s planning, engineering, utilities, fire safety and other technical requirements. Projects may return for additional reviews as applicants respond to staff comments and revise their plans.
