During the seven-day period, officers made 37 arrests on charges ranging from DUI and drug possession to aggravated assault, weapons offenses, and outstanding warrants.
Among the more serious cases reported was the arrest of a Sanford man accused of multiple firearm-related offenses stemming from an incident on South Orange Blossom Trail on June 11. Police charged 37-year-old Pierre Lavelle Chatman with aggravated assault with intent to commit a felony, discharging a firearm on public or residential property, improper exhibition of a firearm or dangerous weapon, and disorderly conduct.
In a separate case, Apopka resident Jarvis Antoine Burton, 48, was arrested June 11 near East Seventh Street and Alabama Avenue on charges including possession of a weapon or ammunition by a convicted felon, battery on specified personnel, assault on specified personnel, possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, possession of drug paraphernalia, and resisting an officer without violence.
Drug-related offenses accounted for several arrests throughout the week. Multiple individuals were charged with possession of controlled substances without a prescription, including cases involving fentanyl, hydromorphone hydrochloride, amphetamine, and Suboxone.
Officers also made two DUI arrests during the reporting period. One involved a property damage crash on Plymouth Rock Place, while another involved allegations of driving under the influence with a blood alcohol level of 0.15 or higher while a person under 18 was in the vehicle. The second arrest also included a charge of child neglect without great bodily harm.
Other notable arrests included charges related to child abuse without great bodily harm, distribution of obscene material harmful to minors, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, evidence tampering, public urination or defecation, and multiple out-of-county warrants.
The juvenile arrests included charges of burglary of an unoccupied conveyance, theft of a credit card, petit theft, and an out-of-county warrant.
