UF/IFAS Extension Orange County provides education and information to residents and businesses through workshops, publications, and mass media in the areas of family life, youth development, natural resources, horticulture, and agriculture. Current April classes/events are listed below and on its events calendar.

Speakers Bureau Series: Introduction to Vermicomposting for Gardeners (In Person)

Learn the ins and outs of worm composting, its benefits, and how to implement it into your gardening practices. Join us for a workshop on vermicomposting led by Orange County Master Gardener Volunteers Mark Robinson, Christian Robinson & Jacquetta Davis. Don't miss this opportunity to network with like-minded Florida MGVs and Extension Employees and to expand your knowledge on this sustainable gardening practice!

The Science of Cheesemaking (In Person)

Don't miss this opportunity to indulge in the world of cheesemaking and take home your own creations! Join Orange County Extension Agent Hillary Ayers for a hands-on cooking class where you will discover the basics of cheesemaking, including the process, equipment, and food safety needed to create your own. Participants will prepare and sample homemade Fromage Facile.

Yoga with Extension (In Person)
In partnership with YogaSix Belle Isle, join UF/IFAS Extension Orange County for a morning of stretching your body and centering your mind. This program will include education on mindfulness and breathing from UF/IFAS Extension Agent Patrick Zayas and feature a yoga class led by instructors from YogaSix Belle Isle. Join us for a healthy start to your week.

Orange County Master Gardener Volunteer Informational Meeting (Online)

Join us for an informational meeting to learn how to become an Orange County Master Gardener Volunteer! Do you have a love for gardening and giving back to your community? The Master Gardener Volunteer Program is an outreach program composed of UF/IFAS Extension certified volunteers who are trained to provide research-based horticultural education to Florida residents. Learn the steps to home ownership and how to obtain an affordable mortgage in this 2-part class offered via Zoom in SPANISH by a team of UF/IFAS Extension Agents, including Orange County Extension Agent Jenny Rodriguez. The homebuyer workshop meets the education requirements for down payment assistance programs.

Limited Certification Pesticide Applicator Licenses - Review & CEUs (Online)

Online exam review & CEUs for Limited Commercial Landscape Maintenance Pesticide License (LCLM) and Limited Lawn and Ornamental Pesticide License (LLO). Presented by Orange County Extension Agent Hannah Wooten, this class provides 6 hours of FDACS-approved training necessary to obtain the LCLM Certification and provides a review for the LLO Certification.

gARTening Series: Aerial Blooms: Crafting with Air Plants Workshop (In Person)

Learn about the Tillandsia species of air plant, which resemble small tufts of grass. With over 500 varieties, there’s something to love for everyone! In this class presented by Orange County Extension Agent Clarissa Chairez, we will be designing cork stopper magnets and a “Jellyfish” ornament. Kids 12 and under are welcome to join!
