A stone-like statute represents the women of Ethel Township. Created by volunteers, it was made to honor the many nameless women who once lived here. The dress on the statue was owned by Mary Lavonnie “Vonnie” Jeffries born in 1878. It was donated to help create authenticity to the memorial.

Now in its 11th year and co-hosted by the Wekiva Wilderness Trust in Apopka this year, The East Lake Heritage Festival will include exhibitors, artisans, crafters, and volunteers that will demonstrate what life was like back in the late-1800s.
