Who will be the 2024 Apopka Dog Mayor?

Bow wow! It's time to meet the 2024 Apopka Dog Mayor candidates and get ready to vote for your favorite canine. Your participation is crucial in making this event a success.

This year, we're proud to host the second election.

The inaugural election of 2023 was a resounding success, raising over $19,800 in $1 donation votes for five Central Florida Animal Rescues. After more than 5,600 votes were cast, Asher was elected the city’s first-ever Honorary Dog Mayor. This is a testament to the positive impact we can make when we come together as a community. 

Now Asher is back to defend his seat. 

Each candidate in the campaign will champion a local pet rescue center and pledge to donate a portion of their campaign and term proceeds. The winning dog will not only represent the Apopka community but also advocate for all animals in Apopka and support the city of Apopka Commissioners in their initiatives. The Apopka Dog Mayor program, a Main Street Apopka initiative, was established in 2023 with the support of the Apopka City Council. 

The Apopka Dog Mayor event is more than just an election. It's a celebration of the community's unity and civic pride. It's a platform to honor our furry friends and foster a sense of togetherness. As we gather to support and cheer for the canine candidates, we have a unique opportunity to connect with our neighbors, bridge divides, and reinforce among residents the bonds that make our community strong and resilient.

Early online voting begins on Saturday, June 15th, and will continue through Election Day on Saturday, July 27th.
