From Digital TrendsNetflix rings in the new year with a healthy batch of original films, comedy specials, and TV shows, alongside one of the best lists of classics we’ve seen from the streaming service in some time.
Classic films that will appear at the beginning of 2017 include comedies like Caddyshack, horror flicks including The Shining, and modern cult hits like V for Vendetta, along with the original four Superman films. Add in blockbuster action films such as Braveheart, and legendary sci-fi hits like E.T. the Extra Terrestrial, and you’ve got yourself some serious rewatching to do once the clock strikes midnight on December 31.

The most-anticipated house-brewed TV shows include a multicamera sitcom about three generations of a Cuban-American family called One Day at a Time, and Degrassi: Next Class, a high-school focused drama that takes place at a fictional school in Toronto.
On the original film front, the streaming giant will release two interesting dramas. Coin Heist, the story of a group of students who attempt to steal $10 million in coins to save their school, launches in the first week of 2017, with Clinical, a drama about a psychiatrist who is trying to put her life back together, following shortly thereafter.
Comedy specials are easier to find than ever this January, with five new specials, including new material from big-named comedians like Jen Kirkman and Jim Gaffigan that’s sure to have you howling with laughter.
As always, some great movies will be heading into the ether by the year’s end, so be sure to catch Dazed and Confused, Saving Private Ryan, The Italian Job and others before they fade into the streaming abyss.
