What To Pack For Sight Seeing Trip In Europe - Winter Edition

Posted

Heading to Europe for the Christmas holidays?

Europe is always a good travel destination. Because of its endless cultural diversity, rich history, and stunning nature, it hosts millions of tourists every year. The climate can vary depending on where you go, so it is good to inform yourself about the forecast for the country and the place you are planning to visit.

Still, regardless of where you are in Europe, there is some important stuff you should have with you to make your stay comfortable and safe. Here is our universal Euro trip packing list for you and your family.

Devices

Probably the most important thing you will need if you plan to use your phone or your laptop is an adapter or a converter. In most European countries, your charger won’t be able to fit into the outlets.

Apart from that, you will probably need your phone or camera to take photos of the places you visit. For those, you will need chargers and/or batteries.

Toilette

Although most international brands can be found in Europe, if you have some personal preferences in terms of cosmetics, do bring those with you just in case. There is no need to carry stuff like laundry detergent sheets, but if you have sensitive skin and can use only one specific brand, it is better to have them with you.

Also, in case you are on some kind of therapy and need to take medications regularly, make sure to bring them along as well. Also, depending on the length of your stay, double-check that you took enough.

The rest is standard: some deodorant, make-up and its remover (for ladies), glasses and contacts, hair brush, toothbrush, and toothpaste.

Remember that Europe is a very eco-friendly place (in most cases). So, you will be able to try out a lot of personal hygiene products, such as eco razors and zero-waste shampoo.

Clothes

Europe is not a warm place in winter. Perhaps you can get up to 60F in the South of Sicily, but the rest of the continent is very cold. Therefore, bring warm and waterproof boots. It would be best to have two pairs so that in case your feet get wet, you have a plan B and avoid catching a cold.

Also, bring jackets, hats, a couple of warm sweaters, scarfs, sleepwear, and enough clean underwear, so that you don’t have to bother washing it over there. Having a pair of thermal leggings is not a bad idea at all.

Personal Items

In order to enter most European countries, you will need a passport and a negative COVID-19 test or a vaccination certificate. Regarding the COVID-19 measures, it is best to check the current regulations in your destination country, as they can vary across the continent.

Furthermore, make sure to bring enough money - Europe can be expensive, especially if you go to Switzerland or Scandinavian countries. In most of Europe, you will be able to pay in Euros, but some countries also have their own currencies.

Apart from that, bring some reading material. The flight to Europe and back can take some time.

You will also need a backpack or, ideally, a pacsafe. Although Europe is generally a very safe place, there are many tourists and thieves know that. Besides, you can never be too careful wandering streets in the winter evenings.

Finally, if you want to travel carefree, check the best options for travel insurance. You never know what might happen, so it’s good to have a backup.

If you’re planning to drive, you will need an international driving license. Not all European countries permit US driving licenses, so check the regulations and prepare your license on time.
