From the Florida Highway Patrol
The Florida Highway Patrol responded to a one car crash on I-4 on Sunday in which a 43-year-old Apopka man lost control of his minivan and died from injuries related to the crash.
According to the FHP, Wilfredo Marin was driving a 2003 Honda Odyssey west in the outside lane of the interstate at 2:30 a.m. near Plant City. Troopers said Marin became distracted while reaching for something in his vehicle. He lost control and veered off the road and into the median, striking a guardrail.
Marin was ejected upon impact. He was transported to Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries. Two passengers in the car, 54-year-old Maribel Muniz and 26-year-old Cathleen Melendez — both from Orlando — were taken to Tampa General Hospital with minor injuries, according to the FHP.
