Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision in Apopka yesterday that resulted in the death of two passengers and serious injuries to two others.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 6:06 pm, a 2023 Ford Mustang driven by an 18-year-old Apopka man was traveling south on Rock Springs Road approaching the intersection of Alexandria Place Drive.
At the same time, a 2021 Ford E-350 was traveling north in the left lane of Rock Springs Road, approaching the intersection of Alexandria Place Drive.
According to the report, the first vehicle was traveling above the posted speed limit.
As they approached, the second vehicle attempted to make a left onto Alexandria Place Drive, but turned into the path of the first vehicle. As a result, the first vehicle collided with the second vehicle's right side.
Both the first driver and a passenger (a 17-year-old male Apopka resident) were transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center in serious condition.
The driver of the second vehicle reported no injuries to the FHP, but a passenger (an 81-year-old Apopka man) was pronounced deceased at the scene. A second passenger (a 94-year-old Apopka woman) was transported to AdventHealth Apopka and later pronounced deceased.
The FHP did not release the names of the drivers or passengers involved in the collision.
This crash remains under investigation.
