Updating Breaking News: Motorcyclist dies after a two-vehicle collision in Marion County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision yesterday in Marion County that resulted in the death of a driver.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 4:11 pm, a sport utility vehicle driven by an 80-year-old Weirsdale woman was traveling eastbound on SE Sunset Harbor Road, stopped at the stop sign at the intersection of County Road 25.
At the same time, a 74-year-old New Port Richey man riding a motorcycle was traveling southbound on County Road 25 approaching the above intersection.
As they approached, the SUV entered the intersection. The motorcycle collided with the side of the SUV.
The motorcyclist was transported to HCA Florida Ocala Hospital and was later pronounced deceased by medical staff. The SUV driver reported minor injuries to the FHP.
The FHP did not release the drivers' names involved in the collision.
