The Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision yesterday in Orlando that involved an Apopka resident and a collision with a motorcycle that resulted in the rider's death.
According to the report, at approximately 3 pm Saturday, a 2012 BMW 5501 driven by a 52-year-old Apopka man was stopped for a sign on Pelee Street at the intersection of University Boulevard in Orlando.
At the same time, a 2015 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R motorcycle, driven by a 44-year-old Winter Park man, was traveling westbound on University Boulevard in the center lane approaching Pelee Street. When the BMW driver attempted to make a left turn onto University Boulevard eastbound, it was in the direct path of the motorcycle, and they collided.
The BMW driver and a passenger in the vehicle did not report any injuries to the FHP and remained at the crash scene.
The motorcyclist was transported to AdventHealth East Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
According to the FHP, the collision occurred at University Boulevard and Pelee Street intersection in Orlando.
The crash remains under investigation by the FHP.
The FHP did not release the name of the BMW driver, the passenger or the motorcyclist involved in the crash.
