Updating Breaking News: 6-year-old bicyclist hit and killed by SUV in Apopka; driver arrested for DUI Manslaughter

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a collision yesterday in Apopka that resulted in the death of a 6-year-old bicyclist.

According to the report, at approximately 4:43 pm., a 2003 Chevy Suburban driven by a 53-year-old Apopka man was traveling northbound on White Cloud Avenue approaching West Tahoe Street in the Rock Springs Mobile Home Park.

At the same time, a 6-year-old male bicyclist was traveling eastbound on West Tahoe Street approaching White Cloud Avenue.

A witness told the FHP that the driver failed to stop at the posted stop sign. As a result, it collided with the bicycle.

The driver was not injured in the crash, but the bicyclist was transported to AdventHealth Apopka and pronounced deceased.

The driver, Francisco Rosilla Arriola, 53, of Apopka, was arrested and booked into the Orange County Jail for the following charges: DUI Manslaughter, DUI 3rd Violation, Vehicular Homicide, No Driver's License Causing Death, and running the stop sign.

The crash remains under investigation.

The FHP did not release the name of the 6-year-old bicyclist.
