The NOWOCATS study area overview includes Apopka’s core urban center, 44 intersections, and 27 roadways. Consultants hired by Orange County Government, in conjunction with Orange County Transportation Planning, will present existing roadway conditions showing which roads are currently failing to provide a reasonable level of service (LOS).

Both evening meetings will include an opportunity for attendees to see maps defining the areas of concern, followed by the presentation, and then questions and answers. Comments will be addressed in the order they are received.

The meetings take place:

  • Mon., January 26, from 6 pm to 8 pm at the Apopka Community Center, 519 S. Central Ave., Apopka 32703
  • Wed., January 28, from 6 pm to 8 pm at Kelly Park School, 4700 Jason Dwelley Pkwy, Apopka 32712

This is the opportunity for all roadway users in Northwest Apopka to share their concerns and ideas.

“This effort began after I successfully got county staff to meet with City of Apopka transportation staff," Moore said. "They had several difficult decisions. The county’s position is that the high cost of roadway expansion should be fairly shared by the City of Apopka, along with Orange County.”

Staff and consultants will explain that our Level of Roadway Service in Northwest Orange County would decrease dramatically if no short-, mid-, or long-term programs are implemented.
