According to the National Hurricane Center, as of 5:00 AM EDT the center of Tropical Storm Fiona was 1,240 miles west of the Cabo Verde Islands.
Fiona is moving toward the northwest at 10 mph and is expected to pick up forward speed during the next couple of days.
Maximum sustained winds are near 45 mph. Gradual weakening is expected to occur over the weekend.
Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 45 miles from the center.
There are no coastal watches or warnings in effect at this time.
