On March 13th, the Transportation Mobility Advisory Commission (TransMAC), a citizen-led advisory board tasked with holding public hearings and making recommendations to the Orange County Commission on transportation expenditures, voted to adopt the proposed expenditures for Fiscal Year 2025-2026 as presented by Orange County Public Works staff.

TransMac was created in November 2024, when 62.7% of Orange County voters chose to amend the Orange County Charter. In addition to its annual budget review, TransMac has the authority to hold public meetings to consider future transportation and mobility innovation and review past transportation expenditures.
Before the March 13 vote, TransMac held four public hearings from January through March, receiving detailed presentations from county staff on the proposed expenditures for Fiscal Year 2025-2026 and engaging in extensive conversations on their prioritization.
“One thing that quickly became abundantly clear to us is that Orange County does not have a sufficient amount of funding to solve the problems in our transportation system”, said Eric Grimmer, chairman of TransMac. “We really felt like this deficit affected our ability to make recommendations on the transportation projects that would best serve Orange County residents.”
In a report to the Board of County Commissioners dated April 18, 2025, TransMac stated that it “looks forward to its future conversations on possible options that could provide new transportation funding streams.” Nonetheless, TransMac said that it was “open to all solutions that could assist in addressing the county’s transportation issues.”
The Board of County Commissioners will hold public work sessions to review the submitted budget presentations planned for July. The next TransMAC meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, May 21.
