Toy Sale: Hope CommUnity Center needs your help

Posted
I hope you can help us in time to save Christmas... or to save our Christmas Toy Sale, that is.

Every year for 46 years, Hope CommUnity Center has held a Community Toy Sale. We accept donations of new, unwrapped toys, price them at 25 cents to the dollar, and invite the community to shop. We sell the toys because the community members have told us they prefer to come and choose precisely what they want. This also allows them to retain their dignity. Instead of receiving a handout, they go home knowing they paid for their children's toys. And the toys are new, not used from a second-hand store. The funds raised from Toy Sale benefit the Sin Fronteras Youth Group by going towards the cost of their end-of-year retreat. So, it is a win-win all around.

The Toy Sale is next weekend, December 17 & 18. We will be accepting toy donations through Thursday, December 15, so we can organize the sale on Friday, December 16.

Unfortunately, this year, we are desperately short on toys.

There are FOUR ways YOU can HELP!

First, please see the attached toy wish list. We are very short on books, multicultural dolls, and bicycles, but we're short on everything.

  1. You can deliver purchased and collected toys to Hope's offices at 1016 N Park Ave, Apopka, FL 32712, Monday through Thursday, 9:30 AM to 5 PM. We are closed for lunch from 12 PM to 1 PM, but if you have to come during that time, you can call 407-880-4673 and ask to speak with Nilka, Edith, or Sal to arrange for someone to help you.

  2. Donate toys through our Amazon Wish List Here. Amazon will deliver the toys right to our doorstep for you!

  3. Donate money so we can go toy shopping. You can make monetary contributions here.

  4. Share this email and help us spread the word!

I know nothing about toys, as I am never around kids, but I do enjoy once a year going in the toy departments, and looking over the toys before Christmas. I really like the OMG dolls, which stands for "outrageous millinum girls". I told my husband, I wish I was a kid again, so maybe Santa Claus would bring me one of those.....LOL
