Tax Holiday Weekend Coming Soon

Florida's back-to-school sales tax holiday weekend begins on Friday, August 5th, 2016 at 12:01 AM and will end Sunday, August 7th, 2016 at 11:59 PM

During the tax holiday weekend no sales tax will be collected on clothing, footwear, and certain accessories selling for $60 or less per item, and on certain school supplies selling for $15 or less per item.

Florida's back to school sales tax holiday has been scaled back this year. Last year the tax holiday covered anything that cost $100 or less. This year's tax holiday will not cover the purchases of computers.

The Florida House had initially proposed a 10-day back to school sales tax holiday. But during budget negotiations legislators scaled it back.

"The state has no issue with you using coupons or taking advantage of buy-one-get-one-free sales during the sales tax holiday," according to the Free tax weekend website.
