For decades, Bruce Springsteen has turned blue-collar longing into anthems that rattle stadium rafters and linger in the quiet drive home. His songs are stitched into American summers — radios humming at red lights, tailgates before kickoff, guitars echoing across open fields.

This Saturday in Apopka, that spirit rolls back into town.

The City of Apopka’s Saturday Sounds Concert Series returns Saturday, February 21, with Springsteen – The Bruce Tribute, bringing a full-throttle celebration of The Boss to the outdoor stage. The free concert begins in the evening (check city listings for exact time) and is part of Apopka’s seasonal lineup of select Saturday performances designed to give families a laid-back night of live music close to home.

Springsteen – The Bruce Tribute is no ordinary cover band. The group’s core members have played together for decades in their own original project, releasing five full-length studio albums along the way. That longevity translates into tight musicianship and the kind of natural chemistry that can’t be rehearsed into existence.

At the center is Billy Livesay — the “Bruce” in the band — whose musical roots trace directly to the Asbury Park scene that launched Springsteen’s career. Livesay spent 12 years performing, recording and touring with the late Clarence Clemons and his band Temple of Soul. During that tenure, Livesay recorded and released Live in Asbury Park Volumes I & II at the legendary Stone Pony — performing alongside Springsteen himself.

That pedigree gives the tribute an authenticity that goes beyond wardrobe and vocals. There’s an effortless energy that only comes from decades of shared stages and long miles on the road. Fans can expect the big hits, extended instrumental moments, crowd sing-alongs, and the kind of heart-on-your-sleeve intensity that defines a true Springsteen show.

Saturday Sounds has become a staple of Apopka’s community calendar, offering residents a chance to gather outdoors for live entertainment in a relaxed, family-friendly setting. On select Saturday evenings throughout the season, the city hosts regional and tribute acts spanning classic rock, country, soul, and pop — creating an atmosphere that feels equal parts block party and backyard concert.

Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets to settle in for the evening. Local food trucks will be on-site serving food, beverages and sweets, and guests are also welcome to bring their own picnic to enjoy under the open sky.

It’s free, it’s local, and it’s designed to bring neighbors together.

For one evening, Apopka won’t need the Jersey shore. It’ll have its own boardwalk-worthy soundtrack — guitars ringing, voices rising, and a crowd ready to be “born to run.”
