Smile Concepts Orthodontics is now open in Apopka.
The Grand Opening and Open House began last Friday with a ribbon cutting ceremony courtesy of the Apopka Area Chamber of Commerce.
Smile Concepts has been a dream of Dr. Keisha Alexander for many years.
At a young age, Dr. Keisha Alexander discovered she loved teeth and beautiful smiles. Orthodontics was a natural career path for her, as it allows her to combine science, medicine, and art to transform lives.
“I chose dentistry because of my love for teeth, art, science and working with my hands,” Says Dr. Alexander. “I've been playing the piano since I was 7 years old and hence developed the manual dexterity required for dentistry through my music. “
“Since I was 13 years old I would look at people's teeth that were in poor shape and wish I could clean and help them. I even tried to clean my family members’ teeth with an instrument given to me by my hygienist at 14 years old.”
“I knew then I was the odd ball in the family. I chose dentistry while others pursued medicine and nursing fields.”
Dr. Alexander received her Bachelor degree in Biological Sciences from Florida International University. She went on to receive her Doctorate of Dental Surgery from Meharry Medical College, School of Dentistry where she graduated second in her class and was elected to the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society. Later she earned a Certificate and Masters of Science in Orthodontics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, 
School of Dentistry.
“I chose to open Smile Concepts in Apopka because of my familiarity with the area since this is where I go to worship and I also have family and great friends here. I have also chosen Apopka because of the growth occurring in that area and the small town community feel it has and the warm friendly people I would be able to serve in the community.”
“I like the location on North Park Avenue because of its proximity to the surrounding elementary and secondary schools that I will be able to serve.”
Those who attended the Open House were able to tour the friendly, welcoming orthodontic office Dr. Alexander has created at 551 North Park Avenue in Apopka.
