Seven Great Reasons to Home Educate

Posted

There are plenty of reasons that you shouldn't home educate your kids. But none of those reasons are actually valid. You might think they won't make friends if you home educate them, but there are bigger and better home education groups now than they ever have been before. You may think that they won't be exposed to the right education, but you have access to the curriculums that schools are teaching children which means you can follow the same one.

You might think it will be a drain on you and your finances as a family, but that's nothing in comparison to knowing that your children are safe, at home and learning things in a way that suits them and not thirty other children. Companies such as Learn Bright understand this, which is why they have created home education packages to help people to teach their children from home. If you've been considering home educating your kids and taking them out of school, you're not alone. There are more and more cities and towns growing their home education communities now especially in the last 20 years then there has ever been before. Why? We've got all of the right reasons below:

  1. It's so flexible. Not only can you work around any shifts and responsibilities, you can keep your children engaged in their learning in a flexible way. So, your child doesn't learn at a desk, and they don't have to when they home educate. Perhaps they learn better in the evening than they do in the morning, school can start after dinner! Home education is not something that they do full time seven  hours per day. In fact, most home education sessions only last two to three hours and it's never all in one go. Every day is an open day where you can be flexible to do whatever you want as part of your curriculum.
  2. There's no such thing as a school run. Does the idea of traffic, or having to get your kids early and having to interrupt your day to go pick them up, sound familiar? None of that is a thing anymore. They can wake up when their bodies wake them up, and they can learn when their bodies dictate that they learn. If you fancy going to the museum for a day, you can do that with no permission slips, no school runs and nothing else. It's all up to you.
  3. Your child can lead. The one big difference between home education and school education is that children can lead it. If your child loves science, you can pretty much incorporate every other subject while they learn things that are scientific. From learning to read with science comprehension articles, to learning to count with science formulas, children can lead what they love to learn and make that the forefront.
  4. You can write your own timetable. You can follow the national curriculum, but you don't have to do it in the standard and structured way. You don't have to follow the 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM school day. This means more efficient learning and doing things in a way that your children see fit.
  5. One to one learning. Because your child doesn't have to try and raise their voice among a class of kids, they get to ask questions and learn one to one with you in a way that makes them happy. Some homeschooled kids get a day's worth of learning within two hours, and that means that you can do what you want for the rest of the day. This is perfect if you want your children to be able to learn from home while you are also working. You don't have to sacrifice your financial life.
  6. It's interactive. Children are far less afraid to ask parents about anything that they don't understand because they're not going to be judged by their class. If you have a teenager with anxiety for example, they don't have to put their hand up in front of their whole classroom. Of course, this can be a challenge if you have children that are working at vastly different ages, but it doesn't mean it's not going to work.
  7. They'll get a confidence boost. If your child is struggling with certain subjects, you can spend more time more intensively on those subjects and even hire a tutor if you don't understand those subjects yourself. Those uneven skills? You have a chance to even them out.
