Senior Resource Alliance to host "Rise and Shine" Breakfast

Community members are invited to explore volunteer opportunities that help Seniors

Posted

As communities in Apopka and Orange County continue to grow and age, ensuring that our senior citizens are well taken care of is becoming increasingly important. From providing basic necessities to offering companionship and support, there are many ways that we can work together to ensure that our elderly neighbors feel valued, respected, and appreciated.

Whether you are a family member, caregiver, or simply a concerned member of the community, there are many things you can do to help support our senior citizens and ensure that they receive the care and attention they need to thrive.

In Central Florida, there is an agency that focuses specifically on Seniors.

On Monday, February 26th, Senior Resource Alliance (SRA) – Central Florida’s Area Agency on Aging – will host a 'Rise & SHINE’ breakfast to inform community members about getting involved with the Serving Health Insurance Needs of Elders (SHINE) program.

A statewide, volunteer-run program, SHINE provides seniors, adults with disabilities, and caregivers free, unbiased counseling on Medicare, Medicaid, and other health insurance concerns. Those who sign up to volunteer will undergo official training with the Department of Elder Affairs (DOEA) in February to learn how to assist seniors with their health insurance needs.

Light breakfast and coffee will be served.

Those interested in attending can email paige.davenport@sraflorida.org to RSVP.

WHEN: Monday, Feb. 26, 2024 at 10 a.m.

LOCATION: Senior Resource Alliance 3319 Maguire Blvd. Ste 100  Orlando, 32803
