From the Senior Resoource Alliance
In Summary:
The Senior Resource Alliance is activating its Emergency Home Assistance for the Elderly Program to help seniors facing higher winter utility costs during an unusually cold stretch across Central Florida. Eligible applicants in Orange, Osceola, Seminole, and Brevard counties may receive up to $2,000 to cover disconnection fees, pre-pay energy bills, or purchase necessities such as blankets. The nonprofit distributed more than $420,000 through the program last year and is encouraging residents to apply quickly as demand rises.

Senior Resource Alliance (SRA) is urging older adults to apply for its Emergency Home Assistance for the Elderly Program (EHEAP) as arctic air pushes temperatures into the 20s and 30s.
Seniors in Orange, Osceola, Seminole, and Brevard counties are urged to submit an application for up to $2,000 in utility bill assistance, which can be put toward:
- Disconnection and late fees
- Pre-paying energy bills
- Purchasing blankets
“As Central Florida prepares for an arctic blast and potentially record-breaking cold, Senior Resource Alliance remains focused on supporting our low-income aging population,” said Karla Radka, President & CEO of SRA. “We’re ready to help our community during this dangerous weather and provide seniors with the peace of mind that their power will stay on when they need it the most.”
EHEAP applicants must provide proof of residence, such as a driver’s license or a utility bill. Seniors living with someone who receives TANF, SSI, and/or SNAP must also provide documentation about benefits and total household income.
The Senior Resource Alliance is your local resource for accessing state and federal government services and programs available to senior citizens, their caregivers, and family members. SRA is also an objective clearinghouse for information and services offered by local, state, and national organizations. We have been serving our community since 1985.
