Good morning, Apopka. Welcome to Runoff Election Day. Today, the city decides who will be its next mayor.

What began nearly a year ago as a wide-open race with 10 candidates across four contests has now come down to a single decision. The March general election settled the commission seats and narrowed the mayor’s race to two finalists, setting up today’s final vote.

In the weeks since, the campaign has shifted from a broad conversation to a sharper contrast. The remaining candidates have made their case in forums, debates, and community events, focusing on the issues that have defined this election cycle — growth, infrastructure, city finances, leadership, and the pace and direction of change in Apopka.

Will it be Orange County Commissioner Christine Moore or Apopka City Commissioner Nick Nesta?

Many voters have already weighed in. More than 5,700 ballots have been cast through early voting and vote-by-mail, a sign that turnout for this runoff is tracking ahead of where the city stood at the same point in the March election — a notable shift for a race that typically draws fewer voters than a general election.

For those who haven’t voted yet, here are the details:

There are two Election Day polling locations

1. Apopka Community Center
519 S. Central Ave., Apopka, FL

2. Northwest Recreation Complex
3710 Jason Dwelley Parkway, Apopka, FL

Polls at both locations are open 7 am to 7 pm on Election Day, and voters must go to the polling place assigned to their precinct.

The Apopka Voice will follow the day from start to finish, with updates from polling locations and results as they are released after 7 pm by the Orange County Supervisor of Elections.

By tonight, Apopka will have its answer.
