Take Control of Your Money for Renters (Online)

Money management, renters’ rights, eviction prevention, and more! Offered via Zoom by a team of UF/IFAS Extension Agents, including Orange County Extension Agent Jenny Rodriguez, this class is for residents looking for income-based assistance programs or anyone wanting to become a more savvy renter.

Beekeeping 101 – Is Beekeeping for Me? (Online)

Come learn if beekeeping is for you! In this very beginner class presented via Zoom by Orange County Extension Agent JK Yarborough, you'll learn about the important agricultural role honey bees play, how much it costs to get started, and the legality of keeping bees in your area. Beekeeping 201 – Beekeeping Basics (In Person)

Come learn about the awesome hobby of beekeeping! Presented by Multi-County Extension Agent JK Yarborough, you will learn about a Langstroth hive, the colonies’ caste system, how to acquire bees and more! True first-time beekeepers are encouraged, but not required, to attend Beekeeping 101 before this class.

gARTening Series: Designing an Open Terrarium (In Person)

A terrarium is a transparent glass or plastic container with soil and plants making it a miniature landscape that can be a source of enjoyment for years! In this class presented by Orange County Extension Agent Clarissa Chairez, you will learn about what this miniature ecosystem entails and how to design/care for this miniature landscape plus make your own “unique” terrarium! You are responsible for bringing your own sterilized clear glass container (½-1 gallon), and we will provide the rest!

Beekeeping 201L – Hitting the Hives (In Person) 

Multi-County Extension Agent JK Yarborough is presenting a hands-on follow up to Beekeeping 201* at the UF/IFAS Extension Seminole County in Sanford. You will learn how to light a smoker, choose the proper PPE for you, go through a routine hive inspection, do a varroa shake and more! *Completion of Beekeeping 201 is required prior to taking this class.

Bat House Building Workshop (Online)

Youth Nature Walk – Gardening! (In Person)

Come join us for a free Youth Nature Walk in the UF/IFAS Extension Orange County Exploration Gardens! Presented by Orange County Extension Agents Calvin Gardner and Erin Reichel, the focus of this event will be observing natural environments to educate and inspire curiosity in our local plants and animals. Walks will be led by one to two Extension Agents, several Master Gardener Volunteers, and at least one parent or legal guardian per party.

Orange County Master Gardener Volunteer Informational Meeting

Join us for an informational meeting to learn how to become an Orange County Master Gardener Volunteer! Master Gardener Volunteer Program is an outreach program composed of UF/IFAS Extension certified volunteers who are trained to provide research-based horticultural education to Florida residents. If you are an Orange County resident who is interested in learning more about this program and how you can become a Master Gardener Volunteer, then this informational meeting is for you!

Orange County 4-H Camps for June-July

4-H Cloverbud Day Camp

A day camp for our youngest 4-H’ers, ages 5-7 (as of 9/1/22).  “Growing up WILD” is an early childhood education program that builds on children’s sense of wonder about nature and invites them to explore wildlife and the world around them.” 4-H staff will lead campers through selected lessons that include hands-on learning, outdoor exploration, arts and crafts, music and movement, and a healthy snack.

4-H Environmental Explorers Camp (In Person) 

4-H S.T.E.M. Camp (In person)

There are two weeks of camp for kids from 8-12 years old (as of 9/1/22). Our 4-H Environmental Explorers Camp will use fun and engaging activities to discover plants, animals, and their habitats, appreciate Florida nature, and encourage positive changes to better the environment. Registration deadline is June 5th, 2023.And our ever popular 4-H STEM Camp will offer hands-on projects to learn exciting science concepts and encourage thinking about careers in science. Registration deadline is July 10th, 2023.

4-H FX Makeup and Prosthetics Summer Camp (In Person)

In this specialty camp, students, ages 13-18 and still in high school, will learn a variety of movie make up techniques, including character development, face casting, prosthetics and application. Students will get create their very own “looks” throughout the week to build their portfolios in this niche industry. 

Each attendee must bring a packed lunch, snacks and drinks each day. This class is offered in partnership with Florida Film Academy. Youth must either be a member of Florida 4-H or join Florida 4-H (fee of $20) in order to join this camp.
