Our Friends, The Kitty Katz

Inspiration

By Charles Towne

I have two 'katz' residing with me.

It should be understood that these are not the run-of-the-mill cats similar to those that live in the average home. No, these are supreme beings worthy of being treated with great love and devotion.

When first introduced to my katz, otherwise known as Feliz Kitty Cattuz, I was made to understand that they needed me, but since then I have concluded that my early impression was wrong because my katz definitely do not need me. No, no, no! They tolerate me the same way your cats tolerate you. And though this may come as a shock to some people, we need them!

We - that is you and I - in reality, are no more than warm pillows to them.

Yes, and though this may come as a blow to the ego of some sensitive souls, our feline residents don’t need us... for, if push comes to shove and the average cat is forced to do it, they will not only survive, they will revert back to their wild roots and thrive.

I know this lady that rescues cats, poor deluded soul. The cats know a good thing when the see it, and they put the word out. So the wee beasties come from miles away because they know the cat lady is an easy mark and feeds them nothing but salmon filet.

Yes, her cats are treated like deities!

We serve them. We feed them. We clean up their poopy! (Which I might say smells so bad, that alone should make us rethink that deity thing!) We lavish loving attention on them, and run up huge medical bills on them. We play with them and talk to them in language that might lead any normal person to think we were bonkers.

And what do they do?

They hack up nasty hairballs to let us know that we are appreciated. Or, they bring us the corpses of deactivated mice, birds, snakes, and other critters they have rendered slightly deceased, again, to show that we are appreciated.

It really does seem to me that cats consider us little more than comfortable pieces of furniture more than friends or comrades.

There is one thing that cats want us to learn and it is this: when a cat's tail is held straight out behind it means the cat is about to attack; if it is screaming and yowling at the same time it means you have slammed the door on its tail.

Just think, if we were half as good to people as we are to our cats, wouldn’t it be a wonderful world?

Dear Papa God, if there was ever a time that love was needed it is now. Help us to personify your great love and mercy to all we meet that they may know you as you are. In Jesu' sweet name we ask it, Amen

Live fully,

Love openly,

And make a difference, today
