The Orlando Regional Realtor's Association has endorsed Commissioner Nick Nesta in his re-election bid for Seat #4 on the Apopka City Council.

ORRA made the following statement about its endorsements:

"After careful consideration from ORRA's candidate screening committee and with Board of Directors approval, we are proud to support:

ORRA did not make an endorsement in the Seat #3 election between Nadia Anderson and Darryl Richardson.

"These candidates champion crucial issues like affordable housing, responsible development, and economic growth, aligning with ORRA's values," the statement said. "We urge our members to vote on March 19th, 2024, in support of these exceptional candidates!"

In the statement, ORRA explains how its Political Action Committee vets its would-be endorsements:

"A primary function of the REALTORS® Political Action Committee (RPAC) is to screen candidates running for public office and recommend for election those who are sensitive to and strongly identify with issues related to the real estate industry, homeownership, the preservation of private property rights, and the free enterprise system. ORRA believes in the democratic process and actively supports political candidates regardless of party affiliation.

ORRA's candidate screening process is regarded as one of the most comprehensive and professional programs in the region. The ORRA RPAC Candidate Screening Subcommittee consider each candidate up for election based on his or her past voting record and/or empathy to real estate issues. Candidates are invited to participate in a screening process and interview before the subcommittee presents its candidate recommendations to the ORRA Board of Directors for final approval.

ORRA supported candidates who accept political action committee (PAC) funds are eligible to receive contributions from the REALTORS® Political Action Committee for use in their campaign. Endorsements may include both financial assistance and campaign services such as direct mail pieces, social media advertising, and other efforts designed to increase the candidates’ chances of success."

Nesta, a realtor and member of ORRA, was pleased to receive its endorsement.

"I am humbled and honored to receive Orlando Regional REALTOR® Association’s (ORRA) endorsement for Apopka City Commissioner Seat 4," he said. "ORRA is a local professional organization of which I am proudly a member. Part of their mission is to positively impact communities while maintaining their core values — something I diligently work toward every day. Thank you, ORRA!"

Election day in Apopka is March 19th.
