Orange County storm debris removal set to end December 16th

Posted

Orange County announced today that hurricane debris removal will be complete on December 16, 2022. All areas with storm debris at the curb will be serviced by this date. There will be a multiple-step verification process to ensure that every public road has been cleared of roadside hurricane debris.

Debris removal efforts will continue in areas that Orange County has assessed and identified as highly impacted by Hurricane Ian and Tropical Storm Nicole. To date, contractors have collected approximately 270,000 cubic yards of debris, accounting for some 90 percent of the debris generated by both storms.

After December 16th, yard waste must be prepared for collection in accordance with Orange County Solid Waste guidelines.

Residents may continue to check the status of the County-wide debris removal process by visiting the interactive Debris Removal Status map.

I had to renew my auto tag for my December birthday, and decided to use the new Apopka location at the old Apopka Land Regional Shopping Center. My renewal stated that in person, you must have an appointment. I went in anyway, to see, and entered my info on the computer, and it said to have a seat, and it would text my cell phone. So I did get serviced, with no appointment, however, they would not take any credit cards, I had to write a check, and they had a sign that stated an Apopka Check Fee would be added at 3 percent of your check amount, plus they also charged me a six dollar fee for processing at the counter. I should have just mailed the damn thing in, and saved the money. How ridiculous. Who ever heard of an Apopka Check Fee??? I saw the ribbon cutting in the newspaper, about the new tag office in Apopka..... I see they have a CEO there, yeah, now I get it ....gotta pay his CEO salary.

Also, at an Apopka sit down restaurant when we got the bill, they had added a "supply chain adjustment" charge onto our bill. This stuff is getting ridiculous nowadays.

Get this....we were heading back home to Apopka, but broke down, and called a tow truck, and the tow truck flatbed picked us up, and went the 429 to Apopka, through several toll booths. Later on, I got a mailing from the expressway authority showing I owed toll fees. I couldn't figure out when I went that way, until I saw they had a photo of my tag, and another tag below, and then I realized, OMG, they got tag photos of my car upon the tow truck, and was demanding payment! Can you believe it? Money hungry state!

Just drove by the digital sign at Park Ave. and Main St. (441).....the sign is torn all up and yellow crime tape surrounding it. Was this vandalism, because the base and plants look intact? When did this happen and what happened to the sign?

I was at Apopka Walmart and discovered they now have a Charley's Cheesesteak Subs and wings inside the Walmart. Who knew? I saw signs all over the Walmart parking lot, but thought it was advertising the one that tookover Church's Chicken. Walmart had an exceptionally large stock of Christmas bulbs, lights, and everything, but really, I did not see any fake Christmas trees and only a very few live ones. Strange. They will never sell all that Christmas decor!
