Mina announced his support this week, citing Moore’s leadership and commitment to public safety as key reasons for the endorsement.
“Christine Moore is the kind of leader Apopka needs right now,” Mina said in the statement. “I trust Christine to put Apopka first, support our first responders, and ensure this community continues to be a safe and thriving place to live. That’s why I’m proud to support her for Mayor of Apopka.”
The endorsement comes as Moore faces Apopka City Commissioner Nick Nesta in the April 14 runoff election, following a three-way race in which no candidate secured a majority.
"There is nothing more important than public safety for the City of Apopka," Moore said. "I’m honored to have been recognized and endorsed by Orange County Sheriff John Mina for protecting and supporting our county law enforcement officers. I have the deepest respect for Apopka Police Chief Lovetta Quinn-Henry and the work of her officers. They will have my full support."
Moore currently represents District 2 on the Orange County Commission and previously served on the Orange County School Board. She was the first woman elected to her current county commission seat. During her tenure, Moore has been involved in several major infrastructure projects affecting Apopka, including the Wekiwa Springs septic-to-sewer conversion project, a long-term initiative to improve water quality in the region. She also holds the Advanced Certified County Commissioner (ACCC) and Certified Board Member (CBM) designations.
