From the Orange County Clerk of Courts
Since the grand opening on September 1, 2015, the Orange County Clerk of Courts Self Help Center has served nearly 90 thousand customers in need of access to legal assistance. These customers either did not have a lawyer or could not afford one.
In celebration of the 7-year anniversary of the Self Help’s grand opening, Orange County Clerk of Courts Tiffany Moore Russell will host a free legal forum to reach and help even more underserved customers. The forum will be held Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at 6:30 p.m.
The virtual legal forum will show attendees how to get legal guidance and low-cost attorney consultations in Family Law, Small Claims, and Residential Evictions.
“Creating a Self Help Center was my top priority when I first was elected to this office,” said Clerk Russell. “I knew there was going to be a need to provide access to justice to people who can’t afford an attorney. Now with the cost of everything going up, I’m sure the need will only continue to increase.”
The center is the first of its kind in orange County to help citizens with needed forms, filing of cases, and provides access to contracted attorneys at an affordable price.
All attorneys are referred by the Orange County Bar Association (OCBA) in collaboration with the Clerk’s Office. Attorney consultations are done by appointment and held virtually. The cost is a minimum of 15 minutes for $1 dollar a minute. To learn more, register for our free legal forum.
