Nightly road closures coming to SR 429: What Apopka drivers need to know

Posted

If SR 429 is part of your daily or late-night routine, plan—multiple overnight closures are scheduled over the next several days that could affect your commute. The Central Florida Expressway Authority (CFX) urges drivers to use caution, allow extra travel time, and pay close attention when traveling through active work zones.

Here’s a breakdown of the upcoming closures:

  • West Road to Northbound SR 429 Ramp
This ramp will close nightly for road work from 10 PM to 6 AM through Thursday, July 17th. Drivers should use Ocoee Apopka Road as a detour.

  • Southbound SR 429 to West Road (Exit 26)
On Tuesday, the ramp from southbound SR 429 to West Road will close nightly from 10 PM to 6 AM. Drivers will be directed to exit at Plant Street (Exit 24) to access West Road.

  • Forest Lake Main Plaza Southbound Cash Lanes
The southbound cash lanes at the SR 429 Forest Lake Main Plaza will be closed from 9:30 PM to 5 AM on Tuesday for overhead sign work. Though minor delays are possible, traffic will be diverted through the dedicated E-PASS lanes, with no violation or fee issues.

  • Forest Lake Main Plaza Northbound Cash Lanes
On Friday, July 18th, the northbound cash lanes will close overnight from 9 PM to 5 AM (Saturday, July 19th) for overhead sign work. Again, all traffic will be diverted through the E-PASS lanes.

CFX officials remind motorists that these closures are weather-dependent and subject to change. Drivers are asked to be patient, follow posted detours, and avoid distractions, especially when workers are present.
