The new center builds on the County’s existing services for older adults, caregiver support, health and wellness resources, educational opportunities and recreational programming. Located within the Orange County Multicultural Center, the Senior Center serves as a cornerstone of the campus, creating a shared community space where older adults can participate in programs while remaining connected to the diverse cultures and generations that make Orange County unique.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrated the completion of the Multicultural Center’s second phase, expanding the County’s investment in spaces that bring residents together.

“The Multicultural Senior Center creates a dedicated space where seniors can access programs, build relationships and engage with their community,” said Nicole Brown, program manager for Orange County’s Office on Aging. “It brings together health, wellness, education, recreation, technology and social engagement opportunities under one roof.”

Orange County’s senior population continues to grow, with more than 208,000 residents aged 65 and older now calling the County home. Brown said the center was created to provide additional opportunities for older adults to connect with others, access services and remain physically, mentally and socially engaged.

The 17,000-square-foot facility features arts and crafts spaces, game and meeting rooms, a multipurpose room, computer classes, health and wellness programs, educational workshops and recreational activities. It also houses the Orange County Office on Aging, making it easier for residents to connect with services and community partners.

Brown said senior centers are about much more than activities.

“They’re community gathering spaces that foster friendships, reduce social isolation and connect older adults with valuable resources and support,” she affirmed. “They help people stay active, continue learning and maintain meaningful connections that improve their quality of life.”

For Tawra Lundy, a Central Florida resident for more than 40 years, the new center represents an exciting investment in the community.

“What excites me most is having a beautiful, state-of-the-art facility right here in Pine Hills that’s dedicated to older adults,” she said. “It’s more than just a building — it’s a place where we can learn new skills, explore technology, participate in arts and wellness programs, and spend time with other people in the community.”

Lundy added the center will help older adults stay engaged while building lasting friendships.

“I’d simply say, come give it a try,” she asserted. “There’s no cost to participate, everyone is welcome, and there’s something for just about every interest. You never know — you might discover a new hobby or make a lifelong friend.”

Orange County encourages older adults to visit the Multicultural Senior Center, explore its programs and discover the many resources available throughout the year to help them stay healthy, connected and engaged.
