The Wekiva Mustangs ran wild on Friday night against the Timber Creek Wolves. They piled up 419 total yards including 252 passing yards from senior quarterback Trey McGee, 112 total yards by senior running back Jaylon Fair and 108 receiving yards by senior wide receiver Wesley Touze. Timber Creek had only 228 total yards in the game. The Mustangs also ran 66 offensive plays from scrimmage to the Wolves 38.alumni_Logo

But football games are won on the scoreboard, and not the stat sheet.

Unfortunately Wekiva's progress in yardage and possession only yielded 7 points, and the opportunistic Timber Creek Wolves rallied for a 19-7 victory over the Mustangs.

Timber Creek running back Peter Hayes-Patrick scored on a 35-yard pass from quarterback Brandon Garcia, and scored on another touchdown run of 42 yards to propel the Wolves. Hayes-Patrick had 171 total yards on the evening.

Wekiva led early when Fair scored on a one-yard run to give the Mustangs a 7-3 lead in the first quarter.

The loss dropped Wekiva to 2-2 on the season. Next week the Mustangs host the Winter Park Wildcats in their homecoming game. Winter Park is 3-1 this season and is coming off a 42-0 drubbing of Colonial High School. Timber Creek improves to 3-1 and returns home to host Freedom High School.
