Museum of the Apopkans celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month

Posted

The City of Apopka kicked off Hispanic Heritage Month with a terrific celebration in Kit Land Nelson Park. About 500 folks attended the event; the guests included several local dignitaries who addressed the enthusiastic crowd.

But the celebration does not end there.

The Museum of the Apopkans continues celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with special exhibits and events. One highlight is a Heritage map that enables visitors to identify their ethnicity and culture. Special markers can be placed on the map to identify each family’s country of origin.

To wrap up the month, the Museum will be hosting a day of Celebration this Saturday, October 15th. The event will be held at the Museum from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. There will be music and dancing and special presentations along with FOOD! A piñata filled with treasures and treats, as well as other activities for children, will be provided.

This event will also serve as a donation drop-off.

The Museum of Apopkans is currently accepting donations to benefit the victims of Hurricane Ian. Items needed include bottled water, non-perishable food, diapers and infant formula, toiletries, paper products, and cleaning supplies.
