A new survey reveals that while nearly every mother has at one time or another sent a care package, less than half have ever received one. This, despite the fact that nearly all moms surveyed said they’d like to receive a care package from a loved one.
According to the survey:
- 45% of moms have received a care package
- 96% of moms would like a care package
- 66% of moms really do want things like fuzzy socks in a care package
The online survey was conducted by Harris Poll for the humanitarian organization CARE.
CARE, which was founded to deliver those original CARE Packages of food and supplies to families clinging to survival in Europe after World War II. While 84 percent of Americans surveyed indicated they are familiar with the term “care package,” very few said they knew where the term originated.
Mothers, like many Americans, understand that a care package is as great way to show someone you are thinking of them. When asked what they would most like to receive in a care package, mothers responded with these top ranked items:
- Personal items to pamper mom such as manicures, relaxation bath salts, or warm fuzzy socks. (66 percent)
- Home baked goods: muffins, chocolate chip cookies or brownies (56 percent)
- Gift cards (63 percent)
