Miss Apopka Pageant emcee announced

Courtney Sexton, who recently represented the state of Florida in the Miss America Pageant, will be the emcee of the Miss Apopka Scholarship Pageant scheduled to be held on Saturday, December 3, 2016, at the Wekiva High School auditorium.

Miss ApopkaAs a Miss Florida contestant, Courtney has won over $22,000 in scholarship awards which she is currently using as a second year graduate at the University of Central Florida, majoring in Health Administration. After obtaining her Master's Degree she hopes to work as a health administrator in a children's hospital. She is a state ambassador for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals as well as a national spokesperson for the Everglades Foundation advocating the protection and restoration of America's Everglades.

The Miss Apopka Pageant is seeking contestants, women ages between 17-24, to compete to represent the city of Apopka in the 2017 Miss Florida Pageant next June. Competition phases include the judges' interview, talent portion, poise on stage in the evening gown and swimsuit segments. Each contestant will be asked to make a donation to the Children's Miracle Network, a charity deeply involved with the Miss America Foundation.

The Miss Apopka Pageant is a Miss America preliminary pageant, and is part of the largest scholarship program in the world, giving contestants the opportunity to reach their educational goals in the fields of medicine, education, business, finance, television and the performing arts.

Contestants must follow the guidelines of the America and Miss Florida Pageants. The age requirement is at least 17 and a senior in high school through age 24; and never have been married.

The areas for competition include judges' interview, talent, lifestyle and fitness in swimsuit, evening wear and on stage question.

Each contestant selects a platform issue of importance to her and society as her community service project.
