A proposed luxury car storage facility, a nearly 200-home subdivision, and a new place of worship are among the items scheduled for review at the Apopka Development Review Committee (DRC) meeting on Wednesday, April 8.

The meeting begins at 9 a.m. at Apopka City Hall and will include several first-time submittals that could shape future growth patterns across the city.

Luxury car storage proposal on East Keene Road

One of the more unique items on the agenda is a future land use amendment and rezoning request for a property on East Keene Road.

The proposal, submitted by HCH Development LLC, seeks approval for an “enclosed luxury car storage” facility. The project is in its first submittal phase and will require both a future land use change and rezoning before moving forward.

While details are limited at this stage, the request signals continued diversification in Apopka’s development pipeline, with niche commercial uses emerging alongside more traditional residential growth.

196-home subdivision planned for Ondich Road area

The largest project on the agenda is Oakmoor—formerly known as Ondich North—a proposed residential subdivision that would bring 196 single-family homes to multiple parcels along Oak Lane and Ondich Road.

The project, submitted by HMF LLC and PM S-1 REO LLC, is also in its first submittal as a construction site plan.

If approved, Oakmoor would add to the growing number of large-scale residential developments in Apopka, continuing a trend that has placed increased pressure on infrastructure and services across the city.

New church proposed on Plymouth Sorrento Road

Also on the agenda is a construction site plan for a new place of worship at 1567 Plymouth Sorrento Road.

The proposal, submitted by Directions Fellowship Inc., calls for a 23,217-square-foot facility.

The project represents ongoing institutional growth in the area, particularly along the Plymouth Sorrento corridor, which has seen increased development activity in recent years.

Early-stage review process

All items scheduled for Wednesday’s meeting are listed as first submittals, meaning they are in the early stages of the city’s development review process.

The Development Review Committee evaluates proposals for compliance with city codes, infrastructure capacity, and planning standards before projects move forward for additional review, including potential consideration by the Planning Commission and City Commission.

Wednesday’s meeting will provide an initial look at how these projects align with Apopka’s long-term growth strategy—and how the city continues to balance new development with infrastructure and community needs.
