Lucky Player Scoops Lottery Jackpot at Gas Station

Posted

It is not every day you stop at a gas station and walk out a millionaire, but that's just what happened to one lucky Alabama man who got luck in Gulf Breeze.

The fact that Alabama is one of just five US states that doesn't offer a lottery or scratch-offs makes this all the more amazing. Alabama has relatively strict gambling regulations, and Florida has also had a confusing few years with online sports betting being debated in and out of court.

Online casino gambling is prohibited, which is why the state has so many consumers exploring offshore online facilities. These offer a way for users to enjoy the latest markets and cashback casino bonus deals without breaking the law.

Florida does have a state lottery though, and its variety of scratch cards has resulted in some big wins.

Lucky scratch card nets life-changing sum for Alabama man

49-year-old Jeremy Smith, who comes from Lillian, Alabama, bought the $10 Triple 777 scratch-off from the CEFCO Convenience Store and scooped the $2 million jackpot.

He had the option of receiving small installments to avoid large tax payments, or to take a one-off lump sum of $1.28 million. He decided to take the lump sum, and the gas station even enjoyed a $4,000 bonus for selling the lucky ticket.

Florida scratch offs

The Florida Lottery has 89 scratch-off games for locals over the age of 18 to play. These vary in price from just $1 where players can net a few thousand dollars if they win the jackpot, to $50 for the 500X the Cash with a top prize of $25,000,000.

Players hopeful of becoming millionaires have 28 scratch cards to choose from with 15 games having jackpot prizes of $2 million or more. There are 8 scratch-offs costing $10 that have a $2 million jackpot and 4 with a jackpot of $5 million that cost $20 each.

The Gold Rush Legacy scratch-off costs $20 and has a top prize of $10 million, with the second biggest prize of $15 million available on the $30 Florida 300X the Cash game.

Lottery scratch off prizes still available

Both $25 million jackpots are still up for grabs at the time of writing, while only one of the four $15 million jackpots on the Gold Rush Multiplier has been claimed and two of the Florida 300X Cash prizes of $15 million have yet to be won.

There are still many top prizes to be claimed including all four $5 million prizes from the Perfect Gift scratch-off, all four $5 million prizes from the $20 Monopoly game, and three of the four $10 million prizes from the Gold Rush Legacy option.

Other prize options include $250,000, $150,000, and $50,000 a year for life, but only two of the $50k prizes and one of the $250k prizes remain.

Not everyone will be as lucky as Smith, but with so many great jackpot prizes still available, there are bound to be some more big winners soon.
