Central Florida businessman Chris Delgado is giving back to the community for the second year in a row. Delgado, an Apopka resident, has partnered with local schools and non-profits to give away thousands of dollars within 12 days of Christmas through his community-based initiative  Orlando Giving.

Growing up, Delgado remembers his family's hardships while living in poverty. Still, his parents always found a way to give back to their community and friends. Those values hold true to Delgado - a husband and father now himself to three young children.

"A huge part of this initiative is to teach my own kids that they can always find ways to make a difference in their community," Delgado says. "I make a point to keep my kids involved with Orlando Giving. I hope, like me, my kids grow up knowing the value of always finding ways to give back and do some good in the world."

The official start of Orlando Giving kicked off December 13th and will go on to Christmas Eve. From the 13th through the 23rd, 12 nominated families in the Apopka community will receive $1,000 from Orlando Giving. On Christmas Eve, one very special family in need will be given $10,000. Delgado and his family will be spending each day hand-delivering each generous donation to each family.

As a California native, Delgado went from flipping burgers at an In-N-Out in 2009 to work in a corporate role with just his high school diploma. Today, he runs his own international business consulting firm advising some of the most influential people in the United States, Europe, and the UAE.

“COVID-19 has made a huge impact on so many families, and having the ability to help these families in our own city through Orlando Giving, has already made such a huge impact," Delgado said. "It is our hope that seeing Orlando Giving participate in these acts of kindness, we will inspire more people in our community that are able to find ways to extend a hand to those in need this holiday season as well as year-round.”

Delgado plans on expanding his charitable efforts into 2023 with more collaborations from other non-profits, community organizers, and local government officials.
