Kiwanis Club of Apopka invites community members to get involved

Posted

The Kiwanis Club of Apopka will be hosting a special event on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at 5:30 PM at Nauti Lobstah, 311 S. Forest Ave, Apopka, FL. The event aims to invite members of the community who are passionate about making a difference in the community to join the club and help children and families in the Apopka area.

Kiwanis is an international organization comprised of volunteers dedicated to improving the world one child and one community at a time. The Apopka club is deeply involved in several impactful projects that benefit local youth. These include sponsoring the Terrific Kids programs at Phillis Wheatley Elementary, Apopka Elementary, and Lakeville Elementary, sponsoring the Key Club at Apopka High School, and hosting the Apopka Student of the Year Awards, which recognize outstanding students from all Apopka-area schools.

"Our club’s work is all about helping children and families right here in Apopka," said Frances Portalatin, President of the Kiwanis Club of Apopka. "Getting involved with Kiwanis is not only rewarding on a personal level, but it also allows you to make our community a better place for everyone, especially our youth. By mentoring kids, sponsoring programs, and organizing impactful projects, we can create a brighter future together."

The Kiwanis Club of Apopka meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 8:00 AM at Seacoast Bank in Apopka, and the club is always eager to welcome new members who are ready to give back to their community. Attendees of the October 22nd event will have the chance to meet current members, learn more about the club’s projects, and discover how they can make a difference by joining.
