Cantres and Honor receive special decal
Apopka police officer Josean Velez Cantres partnered with his K-9 Honor in February. The team also received a vehicle decal with the dog's name and image - a special recognition of their contribution to the Apopka Police Department.
"It's been quite and experience... quite a journey with him," said Cantres. "He's doing very good. I'm very proud of him. I'm looking forward to working with him."
"It is easy to work with him," Cantres continued. "We have made three apprehensions. We are deployed at least four or five times a month."
"Our dogs are very important," said Apopka Police Chief Michael McKinley. "They allow the officer to be a little bit safer. They don't have to go inside a house to search for an armed suspect. They also allow us to track a suspect. They don't get away because they are on the trail."
Honor was named by a student at Apopka Memorial Middle School earlier this year.
