Journey Christian Church cancels Sunday services due to COVID-19 outbreak

From Staff Reports

Journey Christian Church has canceled its Sunday services at both its Apopka and Lake County campuses due to an outbreak of COVID-19 among its members and staff, according to a statement posted on its Facebook page. Journey is one of the largest churches in Apopka.

According to the post, COVID-19 has hit several of its families and staff members at both campuses and throughout multiple departments. The staff, members, and volunteers impacted by COVID are strategic for carrying out weekend services, the post states.

"We want to let you know that we will be cancelling all in person worship services for this Sunday, July 11th at both our Apopka and our Lake County campuses. In addition, there will be no Student Ministry gathering for our middle schoolers on Sunday evening."

It also left open when Sunday services would resume.

"We realize that another week of canceling services is not ideal. It is difficult and disappointing. However, we do feel that this is the wisest and most loving thing to do for our community and for our church family. Please join me in praying for full recovery for all who are sick and that we will be back gathering sooner than later. As of right now, we do anticipate this being a week-by-week decision. So please, stay tuned next week to social media and to our website for an update for the upcoming in person worship services."

For Sunday July 11th, Journey's service will be online.

"Join us online this Sunday as we continue our series called Awaken, how to revive your spiritual life. Be safe and we’ll see you soon!"

The post also included a video statement from Associate Lead Pastor Dustin Aagaard.
