The Strongest Town Contest is an annual event sponsored by Strong Towns, a non-profit organization dedicated to building strong and resilient communities.

The contest aims to identify and celebrate towns that have taken innovative and effective measures to improve their local economy, infrastructure, and quality of life. The Strongest Town contest is unique in that it looks beyond traditional metrics of success, such as population growth and GDP, and instead focuses on the strength and resilience of a town's social and economic fabric.

The contest is open to all towns in the United States and Canada, regardless of size or location, and any public member can nominate a town they believe is strong and deserving of recognition.

The Strongest Town contest is a multi-stage process that involves a combination of public voting and expert judging. The first stage of the contest involves an open nomination period, during which members of the public can nominate a town they believe is deserving of recognition. Once the nomination period is closed, the Strong Towns team reviews all the nominations and selects a shortlist of finalists.

The finalists are then invited to submit a detailed application that outlines their town's strengths, challenges, and plans for the future. The applications are reviewed by a panel of expert judges, who assess the towns based on a range of criteria, including the strength of their local economy, the quality of their infrastructure, and the resilience of their social fabric.

The final round of the contest involves a public vote, during which members of the public can vote for the town they believe is the strongest. 

Last year, Brattleboro, VT, was the Strongest Town winner, with nearby Oviedo making it into the final eight.
