Goodwill Industries of Central Florida (GICF) – in collaboration with WFTV-9 Family Connection – is holding a food drive in support of a local nonprofit for survivors of domestic abuse. The drive began on June 1st and ends on June 22nd.
Non-perishable food items can be dropped off at any of the 13 Goodwill stores in Orange and Seminole counties, including one in Apopka and nearby sites in Fern Park and Casselberry. All donations will go to Annabel’s Closet, an organization that provides furniture, bedding, and other household essentials to people leaving abusive situations.
“Helping this nonprofit means being there for people who simply want to feel safe,” said Mario Fernandez, COO at Goodwill Industries of Central Florida. “Every can of food we collect builds a sense of security for these vulnerable members of our community.”
For more than a decade, Goodwill and WFTV 9 Family Connection have partnered on multiple summer food drives to fight hunger in the community. Last year, they called on Central Floridians to clean out their closets and pantries in support of Hearts, Hands and Hope, a nonprofit dedicated to feeding students.
